    Bed Bug Control

    bedbugs

North America has experienced a major resurgence of these small, parasitic insects. They are called “bed bugs” because they are most often found in beds, but they are also known to hide in crevices and cracks of old furniture, floor or ceiling joints that may not be completely covered.

Color – Mature bed bugs are a reddish brown color. Nymphs (or the baby bedbugs) are more amber in color, while the eggs are very small and white.

Length – Eggs are only about 1mm, while an adult bed bug is slightly less than 1/4 of an inch and has an oval shape.

Diet – Bed bugs feed entirely on the blood of their host. Unlike mosquitoes, when the bed bug is feeding, the feeling is usually imperceptible to humans until after they have finished.

Habitat – Their habitat can be in the material of beds and mattresses, though they can also live in cracks and crevices of old furniture, floors, ceilings and even cardboard boxes.

Impact – Bed bugs are not known to carry disease, but their bites leave behind red welts that are itchy and uncomfortable.
